5 Mistakes DIYers make when designing their own website

I see it all the time. I get hired to take over a website that a business owner started and got overwhelmed with, and like clockwork, they've made at least one of the following mistakes. Here are the most common ones I see and how to fix them!

1. Using the template's default fonts and colors⁣

The colors you use on your website should match and/or complement your branding.⁣

2. Using low-quality and grainy photos⁣

Photo quality will make or break the design of your site. Use high-quality stock photos or hire a professional photographer.⁣

3. Poor backend page organization⁣

Organize the pages in your site's backend to minimize clutter and make it easier to update your site. ⁣

4. Not entering necessary settings and marketing information⁣

Don't forget to add essential information in the marketing and settings section of your site's backend. ⁣

5. Not paying attention to your site looks in different sizes⁣

Typically 80% of your viewers are coming from mobile, and most people don't think about checking how your site will look on a phone or tablet.⁣

My Launch It course addresses all of these common mistakes and more! The course includes worksheets that will help you organize your site. Resources for choosing fonts and stock photography. Two modules focus on website settings and marketing. And one entire module on viewing and editing your site for different screen sizes! ⁣

Launch It enrollment is closed and will open back in April 2020.
